Lois Elaine Mincks, age 87, of Omaha, Nebraska passed away on Friday, January 13th, 2023.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Vermillion with Pastor Elmer “Sandy” Aakre officiating. Burial will be in Gayville Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., on Friday, January 20th all at the church.
Lois was born in Vermillion, South Dakota on June 14, 1935 to Robert Earl and Clara Mae Stuart. Lois was an only child but raised with a beloved cousin who was like her sibling, Robert Westeen (Martha).
Lois was joined in marriage on September 12, 1953 in Vermillion, SD to Kenneth Duane Mincks. Lois and Kenny made their home in Vermillion and welcomed four daughters into their life: Leah Ann, Teresa Lynn, Lori Jean and Kimberly Kay.
Lois and her family moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 1969. Lois worked at Western Electric and then moved on to work for many years at Campbell Soup Company, ultimately retiring in 1995. When Lois retired, Lois and Kenny moved to Warsaw, Missouri. Lois and Kenny were active members of the Poplar Baptist Church with Lois helping with bible school each summer, wrote the church bulletin and attended bible study.
In 2019 Lois moved back to Omaha to be closer to her daughters, where she battled several years with Dementia.
One of Lois’s greatest joys was to have all her family together, playing games, doing crafts, etc. Lois loved to travel, she was able to mark many things off her bucket list. Lois was able to go zip lining, parasailing, swimming in the ocean, seeing Riverdance, attending 3 cruises and visiting Niagara Falls.
Lois is survived by her three daughters, 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-granddaughters, and many other relatives and friends. She was loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Survived by children: Leah Ann and husband Kelly Gill of Omaha, Nebraska. Larry Darnell of Warsaw, Missouri. Lori and husband Jerry Chancellor of Ralston, Nebraska. Kimberly Mincks of Syracuse, Nebraska, and Eldon Krueger of Omaha, Nebraska; Grandchildren: Christopher Chafa and Patrick, Jeremy Mincks and wife, Kinsley, Allie Mincks, Shawn Murphy and wife, Amy, Justin Darnell and wife, Lindsay, Nicholas Murphy, Julie Darnell, Alicia Hoerman and husband, Mike, Katie Chafa and Corey, Sara Chancellor and Nick, Miranda Chancellor, Ryan Krueger and wife, Courtney, and Aubrieanna O’Connor and husband, Quinton.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Stuart, her mother, Clara Stosberg, step-father, Rudy Stosberg, her husband, Kenneth Mincks, her daughter, Teresa Lynn Darnell.
